Peninsula International Relations Association (PIRA) and its sister organization Mutsu City International Relations Association (MIRA) strive to build relationships between the citizens of Mutsu City, Japan and Port Angeles, Washington.
Founder David Bentley, who passed away in February of 2007, formed the organization between Mutsu City and Port Angeles after he traveled to Mutsu City and established the foundation in the early 1990’s.
Hundreds of students and adults, ranging in age from 2 to 80, have traveled from both Mutsu City and Port Angeles on many occasions to build over 20 years worth of friendships.
Today, PIRA continues to maintain a healthy relationship with its sister city and continues to foster exchanges delegations and the building of friendships.
