My Diary
May 11th- Our group of 26 were at the SeaTac Airport waiting to depart to Japan. Around 3:00pm we were flying up into the air flying to Japan.
May 12th- It is now 5:30pm and we just surived a ten hour flight, if we were to be in Washington it would be about 1:30am. Tonite we all ate at McDonalds, and looked around at all the shops by our hotel.
May 13th- This morning we woke up at 3:00am to go to one of the biggest fish markets in the world. Unfortionatly the fish market was closed and we were not able to go. Instead we went back to the hotel to rest for a while. After that we went to Meiji Shrine and Asakusa Temple. Meiji was the first place we saw the Japanese Culture. At Asakusa as where we did alot of our shopping. It is also where we had our first try of Japanese food. Today we did alot of travling around Tokyo by walking and trains.
May 14th- Today we are travling to Mutsu City. We had to ride two trains to get there. In Mutsu we met our host familes and went to our new home. I went to the baseball field and Circle K by my host families house. When we got back we sat and I ate my second Japanese meal. I love my host family, they are all very nice.
May 15th- Today we went to the school with our host students. The school I went to was Odaire Junior High School. In my homeroom class there was a sign that was painted that said, "Welcome Mallory" It made me feel welcome. I went to five different classes they were: Science, Math, Art, English, and Japanese. My favorite class was English because I was involved with the class. We ate lunch in the classroom thet had apples there and the apples were frozen, but they were very good. After lunch we had to clean a part of school. At the end of all the learning part of the day we went outside, Holly, Amy, and I sat outside and watch the students pratice for the Sports Festival. After awhile all three of us went to the principal's office to drink apple juice and to talk with him. When they were finished praticing we went back into the school to clean it one more time. Once school was out we walked home. That night the middle school group and japanese students all got together for a night of games and dances. For dinner we went to a burger place that was very good.
May 16th- Today we went sightseeing. We went to the Mutsu Science Museum, Osorazan, the lighthouse, and the hot springs. After sightseeing we went to the Recreation Center. At the Recreation Center we played games, and did arts and crafts. At dinner we got a shirt that had a picture of Mustu City. Here we stayed with students from Tanabu Junior High School.
May 17th- After coming home from the Rec. Center we got brought to our schools and particapated in their sports festival. There we learned cheers and got to watch the events. In the middle of the event we got awarded with a medal and to awards from the school. After the sports festival we went home with our host families and packed our clothes and got ready to go to the farewell dinner. There I saw two of the students that I hosted when they came here. This night was very sad and full of tears.
May 18th- Today we left Mutsu City saying our final good-byes was really hard. I miss Mutsu a lot.
May 19th- We are leaving Japan today this trip has been a great experience for me and I hope I can do something like this again.
