Chelsea's Letter
Dear 2000 Delegate,
Wow! What an exciting experience! You are SO lucky to be going on the trip! You'll have so much fun! I guarantee it! As one of the '99 delegates, I speak from experience. You have no idea how much fun you will have, how many friends you will make, and how close you will become with the other delegates. But, be prepared for some serious lack of sleep! I would advise you to try as much Japanses food as possible! If you "Don't care for it", then simply say so, but do so politely. But I think trying the food makes the trip more worthwhile. Also, the spending cash issue: They advise no more than $300.00 to use for spending, but you have to buy tickets for subways and trains, and you also have to buy some of your own meals. I would say bring $300.00, maybe a little more, but spend it wisely! You shouldn't buy something unless you really want it. You visit many different places while on this trip. Our delegation went to Asakusa temple, a nature insitiute, a science museum, temples, downtown Tokyo, and Narita (Just to name a few!) I thought that I wouldn't miss my family too much, and you probably think that too, but more likely than not, you will get homesick. (If you want more info. on this, just ask Richie!) Anyway, what I'm trying to get at, is this: The trip is SO fun, you'll never forget it! (If you want some personal momentos, bring LOTS of film! I took 10 rolls, and I could have taken much more! I hope you have as much fun as I did! This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, make the best of it!
Yours,
Chelsea Osterberg
PS- The hotels are really fun!
